The Sundance Kid by iMinds

You are all aware of OR have some type of idea as to how I read.

Short stories, novellas, novels, audios, e-books, books, etc.

I have “learned” to devour books in any form, but my preference is to hold my book, curl up with it, and become lost!

I am a total history nut and will read/listen to “short stories” to learn more, and then I seek out a bigger book for more information.

It happened again!

A Micro Mini has sent me down another rabbit hole!

We have all heard of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, right?

We’ve either seen the movie OR at least know who starred in it!

My father was Westerns and Star Trek. I know my Westerns! 😂

However, I knew NOTHING about the real Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!

I am currently looking for a book about them to learn more.

Recommendations are welcome!

My Google search did come up with some interesting questions regarding the movie.

Let’s have some fun!

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a classic 1969 American Western film starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

1. Which major Hollywood star nearly appeared in the movie alongside Paul Newman?

2. What was the original title?

3. How many Academy Awards did the film win?

4. Was the Sundance Film Festival named after Redford’s character, the “Sundance Kid”?

Answers:

1. Steve McQueen!

McQueen was interested in playing Butch Cassidy opposite Paul Newman, but the pairing ultimately fell apart amid billing issues. Robert Redford eventually landed the role of the Sundance Kid.

2. The Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy.

Yep! The names were originally reversed!

3. FOUR!

The film won four Oscars: Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head), and Best Cinematography.

4. YES!

Robert Redford named his Utah property Sundance after his role in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That property later became associated with the Sundance Institute and what we now know as the Sundance Film Festival.

How many did you get right?

And more importantly...

Who has a good Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid book recommendation for me?! 😂📚

Because apparently one little short listen wasn’t enough!
