Goodreads “Challenge”

2 min read

If you use Goodreads, you are obviously aware of the different challenges they offer.

You have the “Insert year” Reading Challenge.  You can set a goal for the number of books you want to read a year.

I set a goal of 125 Books in 2025.  When I went over, I was AMAZED.  Considering I am competitive and do not have a problem including me in this equation.

Yes!  I admit it!  I compete with myself!

I increased the challenge to 200.  Then 225.  Then I let it ride.

I landed at 307 books read last year!

So, this year obviously I should do more, right?  So, I decided the goal should be 400!!

More on this later!

There are other Goodreads challenges too!

You have your monthly reading challenges (January, February, March, etc.)

You get a badge when you read one book for that month!

As of right now, I am on track. I have 7 out of 15.

The extra badges are extra incentives (Grand Slam, Nailed It and Stepped Up)

I’m sure you can imagine what this means to someone like me!

Then you have your Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall Challenges.

We are in the Summer Challenge now which runs from July 1st to September 14th.

There are 11 badges and I have 3 of those badges.  I have 8 badges to achieve in 24 days!

I am reading multiple books to reach this goal.

I did achieve the Winter and Spring Challenges.  I CANNOT let the summer challenge slip through my fingers.

Remember the 2026 Reading Challenge I mentioned earlier?  The one where my goal is 400?

I am at 199 books!  I have 132 days left.  I am 55 books behind.

Check out my Instagram page out and you can see how I have been “offended “by the Goodreads Challenge and their daily update!

I mean seriously?  You have to update a book a day!

Geez!

I love reading, I mean really love reading, but I am competitive too!

I’m curious, is there anyone else out there like me?

Make extremely outrageous book goals?

Anyone else behind on their Goodreads Challenge(s)?

Rushing to make it up?

Feel as if you have to do ALL of the Goodreads Challenges?

I WOULD LOVE to hear from you!!

Stay tuned for more Goodreads Updates!

Amy
