“The Trunchbull” is no match for Matilda!
Matilda tells the story of a brilliant little girl who is far beyond her years. At just five-and-a-half, she’s solving advanced math problems and reading books well above her level.
But while Matilda is extraordinary…
Her world is far from perfect.
She has two of the most self-centered parents imaginable, and then there’s the terrifying school principal, Miss Trunchbull—a former hammer-throwing champion who rules the school with fear.
And yet, Matilda handles it all with intelligence, patience, and just a touch of clever revenge.
Now I have to say this—
The Goodreads description of this book is absolutely perfect, and I had to include it.
We all know the story of Matilda… or at least, many of us do.
I’ve seen the movie, but I couldn’t remember if I had ever actually read the book.
When I saw it listed on Goodreads as one of the “books everyone should read in their lifetime,” I decided it was time.
And I’m so glad I did.
I enjoyed the book just as much as the movie.
And then—here’s the part that truly surprised me…
I was completely knocked out of my chair when I realized that Roald Dahl is the same author who wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory—one of my all-time favorite movies.
Even now, I’m still trying to figure out how I didn’t know that!
But one thing I do know?
Matilda is a must-read.
Goodreads got this one right—it truly is a book everyone should experience at least once.
💬 Let’s talk: Have you read Matilda? If so, what did you think?
